Asset Governance
Asset governance is not “maintenance happens.” It is a control system: defined standards, work authorisation, competence boundaries, evidence capture, and lifecycle decisions executed on cadence.
MINIMUM CONTROL SURFACES
- Asset register integrity — what exists, where it is, what state it is in.
- Criticality logic — what must not fail, and what failure costs.
- Work control — planned vs unplanned, approvals, close-out evidence.
- Parts control — spares policy, reorder points, substitutions governance.
- Competence control — who is allowed to inspect/service/retire equipment.
OUTPUTS (WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHOW)
- A weekly maintenance signal (backlog + priorities) that survives staff changes.
- Audit trail: inspections performed, parts used, failures contained, recurrence addressed.
- Owner/asset-manager visibility without operational micromanagement.
